Middle and high school aged youth are invited to go on an Advent Retreat, December 1-2 at Plainsong Farm in Rockford.
Plainsong staff, the Rev. Nurya Love Parish and Mike Edwardson will lead portions of this retreat, providing formation time and activities, along with the Rev. Joel Turmo (St. Timothy’s, Richland), Jeff Brown (Grand Rapids area churches) and Gennie Callard, Assistant to the Bishop for Children and Youth Ministries.
Youth participants will learn the importance of taking time to reflect and discern God’s purpose for them, and how agreeing to walk forward towards that purpose often involves much patience. Time will be spent observing the farm at rest, connecting it to the need for all of creation to have seasons of rest. All serving as a reminder for us that Advent is a season of preparation and anticipation – a holy waiting.
There will be times to play and pray, along with good food and good friends.
We will be sleeping in the residential retreat house at Plainsong Farm.
Adult mentors and parents are welcome to attend (they must have taken Safeguarding God’s Children and have been background checked).
