The Order of Naucratius – West Michigan is a network of individuals (religious and otherwise) in The Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan connecting hunters and anglers to ministries of food security.
We believe that hunting and fishing are sacred activities, and with that premise, our goal is to help connect local hunters and anglers who have harvested in abundance with people who are hungry. The primary way we accomplish this goal is through encouraging local anglers and hunters to share portions of their harvests with those who are hungry through local programs and churches who are engaged in feeding people. We commit ourselves to three rules of life: Prayer, Conservation, and Charity.
Over the past few years, a small group of hunters and fishers have donated thousands of pounds of fish and game to local food pantries and feeding ministries throughout the U.S. In so doing, those of us involved have been blessed to think about the harvest in a new way. We have been able to offer our gifts and talents and precious protein to God by donating it to folks who have a difficult time coming across salmon or trout or fresh game.
We invite you to join us for any of our annual events or to discuss bringing the Order of Naucratius to your neck of the woods.
