We are sad to announce the death of The Rev. Max Phares, Deacon on Monday, Sept 22, 2008.
The committal will take place on Friday morning at Fort Custer near Battle Creek with full military honors, followed by a Eucharist at 6:00 p.m. on Friday September 26 at St. Thomas' Church in Battle Creek.
All clergy are invited to vest and walk in procession at the Eucharist. Deacons will be invited to participate at the prayers and in the distribution of communion. Please see Bill Spaid or Anne Reed prior to the liturgy.
A memorial fund in honor of Max has been established in the diocese to assist postulants for ordination to the diaconate and contributions may be made to the Diocese of Western Michigan with the note: Oakerhater School/Max Phares.
