The poet William Wordsworth said: "Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart." In today's digital age, the "paper" is more likely to be an Internet blog made of electrons that zip around the planet at light speed. But the same advice holds true – speak from the heart, tell it simply and let the reader find meaning. We invite you to visit this space often for the latest message from our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Robert R. Gepert. If you'd like to respond to this blog, or suggest a future topic, please click here now to send an e-mail message. Enjoy! |

"My Prayer for the Electing Convention" | |

I’ve heard from several people who attended the Walkabouts last weekend say that they were taken aback by the quality of the candidates for ninth bishop of the Diocese of Western Michigan. Some of them said they had gone in thinking they knew which candidate would get their vote, only to leave with their mind changed, or not sure anymore! This is good. It says that many of you are open to hearing and weighing … and open to the kind of discernment that is paying attention to the movement of the Holy Spirit. My prayer is that everyone will do the same, to discern what this diocese needs, what the Church’s mission needs, rather than what is wanted. |
